Michael Vincent 52 aka Vinnie

I saw Vinnie on Petfinders.com and instantly fell in love. He was far away in Pocatello, ID at a city shelter and had just a few days left. It was mid-January, there was a snow storm and he was a 20 hour drive away. I spoke with the shelter manager and she found someone to drive as far as Butte, MT with him if we would cover expenses. (Teri has since become a good friend and is Vinnie’s god-mother.) We rented a four wheel drive vehicle to get over the Id and MT passes and set out the next morning. We drove almost the whole way in a blizzard but arrived at the designated place on time. When I saw this cute little boy I could hardly believe it! He was an absolute bundle of joy. I really knew nothing about him but had fallen totally in love with his Petfinder.com photo. We got back into the car and headed home, Vinnie sitting in back with Smokey and then in front with us - . back and forth, checking everything out. I gave him Rescue Remedy and did T-Touch circles on his ears to keep him calm and relaxed and then he slept most of the way home.

Vinnie is an amazing dog, happy, eager to please, wanting to be with me all the time. We love him very much. He helps me garden, sew, cook and play. He goes with me in the car and travels with me to visit my family. Vinnie was 25 pounds when we got him. His coat was dull and thin and he probably had never been inside a house. In 2 months he weighed 45 pounds and was no longer the skinny little dog we had found at the shelter. It’s been more than 2 years of happy days having Vinnie in our lives and he has just blossomed in his new life. He loves everyone and is gentle with all our animals, large and small. Can you tell he loves having his photo taken?
