Chickens Chickens Chickens

We have always wanted chickens! So the first thing we did when we moved here was to build a chicken house. Not just any chicken house! It is insulated with a fan for summer and heat lamps in the winter. The chickens have individual nesting boxes and a big fenced yard for when we away. Otherwise they roam free-range, keeping the bug population down in the gardens.

Our chickens are very friendly, having all been hand raised. They eat kitchen scraps and organic chicken scratch. The love pasta and rice and I cook that for them every few days as a treat.

We do not eat our chickens. Ever. They are part of our family. We sell their eggs weekdays and have a sign we put up on the road.
