How to Make Gem Elixirs
Most Gem elixirs are made by placing the cleaned stone or stones chosen in a clear glass or crystal container with pure water and placing this in sunlight for several hours. Two to four hours is common, though on a very bright sunny day at noon, full charging can occur in as little as half an hour, and on overcast or cloudy days it can take much longer.
Some people keep the gemstones in the water for a minimum of an entire day (24 hours), and some people take a week to a fortnight to make an elixir, spending some time each day to mentally reinforce the intention. Conventionally made elixirs are made outside on bright sunny days. It is important to minimize your direct physical contact with the stones and water in order to keep the crystal energy from absorbing your own energy and effecting the elixir. You may wish to place and remove your stones with a non-metal spoon and you should always have a calm and focused emotional state while making elixirs, because strong emotions can effect the elixir.
There is no set requirement for the type of the container but is should be an undecorated clear glass bowl or glass. After the water has been charged by the gemstone, it is filtered and sometimes preserved with alcohol or vinegar. If you wish to preserve an elixir, fill a container halfway with your essence and fill the rest of the bottle with brandy or vodka. The alcohol is used to inhibit bacterial growth and may also help to "fix" the vibration. Dark glass bottles are preferred for storing elixirs. Label your elixirs with the gem or gems used the date made.
Gem elixirs are most often used undiluted by placing two to five drops of the elixir in a glass of water or under the tongue two to four times a day. They can also be used topically on the skin or put in bath water. You can add them to sprays that you use for room or aura clearing.
Some stones should not be used to make conventional gem elixirs. Do not make an elixir from any stone containing known toxins. These include but are not limited to, Copper, which would include azurite and Malachite. Orpiment is arsenic and Cinnabar contains Mercury for example. “Love is in the Earth" by Melody does have some mention of whether or not a stone can be used to make conventional elixirs.There are also some stones which are not suitable for soaking in water, alternative methods are then to be used to make elixirs. These methods include: placing the stone in a smaller container which is placed in the larger container of water, and placing stones around the container being charged. These are often used in combination. Some sources recommend that you have at least six stones of the same type to place around the container, others use quartz points to amplify and direct the energy of the stone you are making an elixir with into the water. You may also use a grid and surround your glass container with the stones which is a safe and effective way to make an elixir without worrying about the crystal.
Another way to make an elixir is to hold a charged stone against the side of a glass of water and intend the crystal charge the water with its energy. This is most effective if you are skilled at focusing your intention, but is not usually as long lasting as using a conventional method, and may be more suitable for making a single glass of charged water to be used within a short time.
Many people just like to keep a quartz or amethyst crystal in the water they drink or water plants with even without further charging, this seems to improve the taste and energy of the water.

How to Cleanse/Re-energize Crystals
*Place under the light of a full moon/sun for 24 hours.
*Bury in the earth (make sure you mark it!), for 24 hours.
*Place in Sea Salt Water. One tsp of Sea Salt in a glass bowl in cool water. Place the crystal in the water. Make sure the crystal is covered with water. Let this bathe in the water for 24 hours. This is a wonderful way to rejuvenate the power of your crystal. It washes away the negative energy it has absorbed and recharges it with the positive healing energy again.
- Place crystal on a large crystal cluster for 24 hours.
- Soak crystal in flower water with the petals of the flowers such as rose, honeysuckle, orange blossoms for 24 hours will cleanse the crystal of all negative energy.
- Bury in soil up to 24 hrs. Near your home or if you have a sacred spot, bury them there.
- Smudge crystal with sweet grass, lavender, sage, cedar or incense. Pass crystal several times through the wafting smoke. Quick and effective.
- Your breath and intention also work well, especially if you do not have a lot of time
- Do Not Cleanse these crystals in Salt Water:
- *Calcite
- *Carnelian
- *Labradorite (Spectrolite)
- *Lepidolite
- *Malachite
- *Moldivate
- *Opal
- *Turquoise
- *Ulexite
These crystals may fade in Sunlight:
- *Amethyst
- *Celestite
- *Opal
- *Turquoise
- *Rose Quartz
When to cleanse your crystals
- After every healing session.
- If just holding stones near or on you but not for specific work, trust your intuition when they need cleansing
- If you carry them consistently, cleanse every week or two
- If you have an emotional experience, it is good to cleanse the crystal immediately afterwards
- If you are around extreme negativity or a negative person, cleanse right away

Crystal Programming
Crystal Programming is dedicating your stone to the specific purpose for which you wish to use it
- When you align the energy of the stone with your own specific intent you are helping to direct the energy of stone so that it can help you in a more powerful and focused manner
- Programming is simple – before you begin, choose the purpose to use the stone for and be as specific as possible
- Once you establish your intention, hold the crystal in your hand – in your mind envision the specific purpose
- Imagine your intention as a bight light that grows from your heart and flows into the crystal
- Pour your intention into the stone and attune yourself to the stone at the same time
- When you feel in tune with your crystal, trust your instincts – say out load or silently “I program this crystal for….”
- Feel free to reprogram your crystal whenever you want to.
- Be sure to cleanse it first if you use it for a different purpose

How to Use a Pendulum
- Pendulums are ancient methods of divination. The Pendulum acts as an intuitive extension of yourself. Use of a pendulum is extremely simple.
- When suspended your pendulum will move in a clockwise or counter clockwise circle
- One direction means yes, the other direction means no
- To begin you must first attune yourself to your pendulum?s motions
- To do this simply hold the pendulum suspended over your hand, wrist or palm
- Ask your pendulum which direction means yes
- If the pendulum begins to circle in a clockwise manner this means yes and vice versa applies to no.
- You only need to do this once. Once you are attuned to the language of your pendulum hold it stationary and ask it a question
- Be sure to phrase your question so that yes or no is an appropriate answer.
- The pendulum will swing right or left for yes or no
- Occasionally the pendulum won?t really move at all ? or will swing side to side instead of in a circle. I always take this to mean a maybe or unsure
